ANNA MCDONALD and ROSALIND HALTON
Anna McDonald is one of Australia’s foremost baroque and classical/romantic violinists performing chiefly on period instruments. She has performed with many leading European orchestras, including leading the Gabrieli Consort, the Hanover Band and the Basel Chamber Orchestra. Originally from New Zealand, harpsichordist Rosalind Halton is currently Associate Professor in Music at the University of Newcastle. The duo’s program today includes Bach’s Sonata in G for violin and basso continuo, BWV1021 and Sonata in D minor, Op 2 No 3, RV14 from Vivaldi. > more

Flautist Sally Walker is a former member of the Cologne Chamber Orchestra and former Principal Flute of the Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss. She has also performed with the Berlin Philharmonic and collaborated with cellist Steven Isserlis and pianist Denes Varjon. Pianist and composer Ian Munro has performed with orchestras in the UK, Poland, Italy, Portugal, Russia, USA, China, New Zealand and all the major orchestras in Australia in over sixty piano concertos. Bringing together 17 professional Hunter Valley-bred musicians, the Dungeon Big Band was formed in mid-2004, with its premiere concert at the Dungeon Jazz venue in Newcastle. The band draws on repertoire from the Swing era, Latin American and more contemporary styles. In 1884, the first Newcastle Council Chambers were built, and Waratah Town Council called a meeting of interested residents to discuss the formation of a local brass band. From these humble beginnings Waratah Brass was born. Since then, the band has developed into a prizewinning ensemble that now presents concerts on a regular basis under the direction of Steven English.
