Burma's most popular comedian has been sentenced to 45 years in prison.

The comedian, known as Zarganar, was found guilty of breaking Burma's laws on electronic communication.

He was detained earlier this year for criticising the government's slow response to Cyclone Nargis, which left 130,000 people dead or missing.

He is the latest in a string of opposition acitivists to be jailed by the military government.
